One Layer, Baby!

I always marvel at one layer cards.  I decided to try my hand at this one after reading Darnell's post with her darling three birthday frogs.  If you've never read her blog, you are missing out!  She's got a great sense of humor and creative cards to share.  Anyway, she talked about triplets and it reminded me of when our first daughter was born.  Two of my SILs had babies the same week, one was on the same day!  Triplet cousins, now that I can handle.  They are all ten this year, where did that time go?!

Here's my "inspiration" photo of my now ten-year-old.  See, just like the card - hee, hee!  I know I have a baby picture with her two cousins, but I can't find it on this computer!

I used a Stampin' Up! Stampin' Around roller wheel that I bought about the time my daughter was born.  I rarely used the roller, so I pulled it apart and put the separate images on cling foam.  I made the masks out of card stock and pulled them through the Xyron.  It was not easy to get back off the card, but on my first attempt the water-spritzed ink bled through the lightly-taped printer paper (poor things looked like their diapers leaked).  I'm enjoying the versatility of this "Typically Teen" stamp set.  I get excited every time I see someone use it on their blog.  My family would say, "Get a life!" but I know you all understand.

Twinkle Twinkle

Bring on the SPARKLE!  Today's card is for a little ballerina on her birthday.  The inside says, "You're the Star"  Well, it's actually a die cut star (hee hee).  As usual, it's difficult to photo the shimmer on the darker pink, but thankfully you can see the glitter.

I cut out the letters and stars on my Silhouette.  I didn't have pink glitter paper, so I used glitter glue.  Stickles is the brand I found online, but I actually used Hampton Art Studio G glitter glue from Wal-Mart.  Sometimes I substitute in Inlinkz with items that would be similar, and easier to find.  For example, I show you the Silhouette Cameo (I wish!), but I have the SD.  I do try to be as specific as I can.

Thinking of...Michelle!

Yes, Michelle Bala was on my mind when I was making this card.  She is such a gifted card maker and the Guest Designer of the Week at The Shabby Tea Room.  I was looking at this week's inspirational photo and my eye was drawn to the walls and ceiling (of the picture, not my own).  I scrolled down a bit, and there it was, totally captured by Michelle's beautiful card!  I love the elegance Michelle adds to each one of her creations. Here's this week's inspiration photo:

We were to use kraft, cream/white, pink, and lace.  I was inspired by the walls, but also the chandelier, and all the straight lines in the photo.

The chandelier is called, "3-D Chandelier" from the Silhouette online store (it was free one week so I grabbed it).  I had to edit it a bit to get a flat image.  The little lace medallions I cut on the Silhouette a while ago, but that file got lost when I updated versions, so not sure on it.  The flower is from "assorted quilled flowers" also from the Silhouette store.  The papers are all from my scraps and include ones from Basic Grey, Cloud 9, The Paper Company, and Lily Bee Design.  I'm sorry I can't identify them all.  I made the leaf using a McGill punch and hand-cut the little tags.  Pearls I had on hand as well as the eyelet lace and ribbon.  I distressed with Gathered Twigs, Old Paper, and Victorian Velvet Distress Inks.  The stamps are Hero Arts, "Say it All", and "Sparkle Clear: Love That."

This card is entered in the following challenge:

Thank you, Michelle, and Tammy who chose the theme at The Shabby Tea Room.  Thanks to all my blogging friends for your inspiration and encouragement!

Calorie Free

Oh coffee!  My day doesn't really start until I've had a cup.  I never used to like coffee until I started dating my husband, Gene.  Now I'm quite dependent.  Gene believes coffee should be non-flavored with cream only, tea should only have sugar, but the kid at heart will take whipped cream whenever it's offered.  He was a bit aghast when I brought home a flavored creamer or drank my tea plain or with milk!  He's been traveling for work a lot lately, so this is a little cyber note to him (I know, you're blushing now, me getting so personal).

I made and cut the oval on my Silhouette.  The cup is a digital die from the Silhouette store called "coffee cup gift card set"  It can be made into a card itself, but I shrunk it for the occasion.  I cut it on white cardstock and then traced it out onto a real coffee cup sleeve and the cup is an oatmeal paper from Lily Bee Design.  I stamped the text with the stamp set that came with the Anna Griffin collection (see the InLinkz above) in Distress inks, "Old Paper" and "Gathered Twigs".  The cup and oval are shaded a bit with the same inks.  I wrote my little poem with Calibri font in Word and printed it on the white cardstock.  Lastly, I adhered the cup on with foam.

Rosy Posy Birthday Wishes

Virginia Lu has a wonderful series she's doing about how to stretch your stamps.  Now that I've gotten into stamping and card making, I realize that there are several style categories that stamps usually fit into.  I thought I should find my camp and sit in it, but I really like all styles of cards.  I guess that makes me a card making nomad (not to be confused with "card making mad!").  Anywho, back to Virginia's challenge.  One group of stamps that I can't resist are the cute stamps from Lili of the Valley.  Having two little girls, there's always a birthday party on the horizon.  So how does one s-t-r-e-t-c-h a cute image?  By putting the image into a situation.  This little sweetie is peeking out of the window, waiting to give some little girl a bouquet of birthday flowers.

I started by photographing this card flat so you could see the way little Rosy is looking through the window.

I can totally see my two girls in this, and many of the LOTV images.  They are getting older now, but a just a year or two ago they wore ribbons in their hair and a little white cardigan over their darling spring and summer dresses.  The front of this card reminds me of those little cardigans.

I realize I didn't get a full photo of the sentiment.  It says "Birthday Wishes" and it came with Rosy when I bought her as a set.  The floral die was cut on the silhouette.  It's called, "one piece spring border" in the Silhouette shop.

I'm so glad you could stop by for a visit, thank you!  I hope you're having a wonderful day.
