It's Your Time to Sparkle with TYI #29!

It's time for a new challenge over at Tag, You're It!
Carol created a fantastic card with so many inspiring elements:
I love the contrast of the black tag on the light pink background.  Just look at all of the shapes, including the triangles in the background that are also reflected in the patterned paper of her stars.  I also love the pink, black, and gold color combination!

I decided to focus on the open star, the color combination, and the celebratory sentiment.  I merged a star shape with a circle using the Silhouette Cameo to create a tag.  I then Cut another star with a star cut out in the middle for the top of the shaker.  The tag was cut from watercolor paper and painted with Blushing Rose Twinkling H2Os.  The top star is regular cardstock swiped with Brilliance Galaxy Gold ink.  The window was created with a piece of clear acetate and the top popped up with fun foam.  The sequins are a combination of Doodle Bug black and Neat & Tangled Orchid Satin.  I stamped the sentiment from PTI's Sparkle and Shine stamp set using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  The PTI Sparkle and Shine word die was also swiped with the gold ink, and attached to the star with black floss.

There was no way to get the glittery goodness to show up on camera, but it all sparkles irl!

I hope you will play along with this wonderful challenge at Tag, You're It!  I'd love to see what you create!
Thanks for coming over to visit, I hope you have a wonderful day!

Hello MFTWSC240!

The basement is empty!  Yes, that's right, you heard me.  After several months of sorting and packing, my mom's basement is finally empty.  In fact, most of the upstairs is moved over to the apartment too, but now comes the dreaded garage!  I was excited to see the light at the end of the tunnel, when Gene's parents called to say that they are downsizing too.  Their house closes on September 21st.  Here we go again!

I'm really trying to squeak in some crafting time here and there.  This card features the fun stamp set, BB You Gnome Me:
The gnomes were stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink, and colored with Copics.  I ink blended the background with DI Mermaid Lagoon and Mowed Lawn.  I cut the openings on the Silhouette and popped it up with fun foam.  The papers are PTI and the card base is Paper Studios.  The sentiment is from the same stamp set, heat embossed in white.  The yellow twine is from Hobby Lobby.

Here's a couple of profiles to show the dimension:

I'd like to share this in the current MFT sketch challenge 240.  This is my first time joining in a MFT challenge, and I'm so excited to play along!
Thanks so much for coming over to visit.  I hope you are having a wonderful start to your week!

Hugs and Hello with Tag, You're It! #27

This summer is going by so fast!  I thought July just started and here we are at the end of it.  Where did it go?!  Well, one great thing about this last day of July is that we get to start a new challenge at Tag, You're It!

I was so inspired by this week's inspiration project by Anja Curvers!  I think I CASEd almost every single element of her card:
Here's Anja's inspiration:
How fun is that!  Now that's one turtle who is ready to party!

I stamped a sweet little elephant from WPlus9 Unforgettable stamp set to mimic Anja's happy turtle. He was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Copics.  The flowers are from Serendipity Stamp's Summer Flower Pops, also colored with Copics, and cut out four times in different sizes, layered together, and fluffed up.  Thin strips of black cs create the stems.  The little tag on the flowers reflects Anja's small tag that also says, "hello."  My background was dry embossed with a Lifestyle Crafts Classic folder, holding to a similar graphic background pattern found in Anja's stenciled leaves.  I lightly blended HA Soft Stone shadow ink over the top of the texture.  The main tag was white heat embossed with x's and o's from PTI's Big Hugs stamp set and ink blended using DI Dried Marigold, Squeezed Lemonade, and Worn Lipstick.  The main sentiment is also from PTI's Big Hugs stamps and dies.  "Sending" was white heat embossed on black cs, and "hugs" was die cut from a scrap of cardstock (brand unknown).  The bottom corners of the background panel were rounded similar to the bottom shape of Anja's card.  Black textured twine completes the top of the tag.

Whether it's a tag, or a tag on a card, I hope you get a chance to play along with Tag, You're It!

Thanks for coming over to visit.  Have a wonderful day!

Colorful Inspiration

I am sorry for the sparse postings this summer.  As I've said before, I am helping my mom go through the process of down sizing, but then she ended up in the hospital with pneumonia.  She's out now and thankfully her house sold, but now I need to move her to the apartment.  We just finished the kitchen yesterday and we're on to some closets.  My mom has been a quilter and crafter forever, so you know those closets are all very full!

I decided to take a morning off, and what better therapy than stamping!  Virginia Lu has a challenge going on Virginia's View called 100% Stamping.  I spent my morning doing just that.  I got my inspiration from a scarf and a stamp given to me by a very dear friend:
Here's the beautiful scarf, and the stamp is that cute little Scottie dog.

Stamps: Scottie Dog from Crafty Stamps, PTI Background Basics: Super Stripes, PTI Scripted,
Die: PTI Scripted
Ink: PTI Orange Zest, Raspberry Fizz, Tropical Teal, Royal Velvet
Cardstock: Orange Zest, Royal Velvet
Rhinestones: Recollections
Marker:  Zig Writer in Teal
White embossing powder: Zing
I used both the MISTI and a Stamp-a-ma-jig to help me stamp straight.

Not much time left, but still time to play at Virginia's View:
Thanks so much for coming over to visit!  I hope you are having a great day!

Tag, You're It! Challenge #25

Yesterday, on my blog, I announced that I was invited to join the Tag, You're it! design team.  I also mentioned that it is an honor to work along side these amazing ladies.  Here's a prime example:

I loved Erin's ink blending and wonderfully balanced design.  I CASEd Erin's design using a single balloon instead of her flower, confetti rather than sequins, and embossed streamers where she had writing.  The balloon string winds down to give a nod to Erin's lower right swirl.
After I took the pictures, I thought the balloon looked rather flat, even though it is cupped a bit and raised with foam.  Here it is later with the balloon covered in Wink of Stella and Glossy Accents:
Then, of course, the camera wouldn't cooperate because of the shine!

I used PTI's Hooray Stamp Set for the streamers and the sentiment.  The background is Impression Obsession's Textural Dots.  I heat embossed all of the stamped images using Zing Aqua, Mustard, and Apricot embossing powder.  The main panel was ink blended with PTI's Hawaiian Shores.  I made the balloon out of PTI Orange Zest cs using the Silhouette.  I created a circle and then double clicked for point editing, and pulled the bottom downward a bit.  I then created a triangle and merged them together.  The white "glare" is from a Gelly Roll pen.  The confetti was punched out of PTI cs: Orange Zest, Hawaiian Shores, and Harvest Gold with a tiny hole puncher.  The satin ribbon was salvaged from pajama packaging.

I hope you get a chance to play along with Tag, You're IT! for challenge #25.  It would be so much fun to see you there!

Thanks for coming over to visit.  I hope you are having a wonderful day!
