Twofer Card Challenge #31: Trees

Festive Fall or Winter Wonderland?  How about both!  It's time for a new challenge over at the Twofer Card Challenge blog, and the prompt this month is trees.  My tree of choice is actually a die cut row of trees and houses called Forest Village by Poppystamps (retired).
I die cut the trees twice from sparkly blue cs and cut them away from the houses to create a longer row of trees.  I glued the trees onto white cs and added Nuvo Moonstone Glimmer Paste with a Nuvo spatula.  The hills were created with Lawn Fawn Hillside stencils and ink blended with LF Kiddie Pool ink.  The sentiment also comes from LF, Offset Sayings: Christmas, stamped in both Kiddie Pool ink and clear embossing powder.
Here I kept the die cut in its original form, paper piecing the insides with fall colors and white for the windows.  I then ink blended over it with DI Gathered Twigs.  The background is chipboard embossed with Taylored Expressions Chevron cover die, also blended with Distress ink.  The hugs die cut is an older one from PTI.

What type of trees will you choose to use for your twofer?  Check out the wonderful inspiration from our guest designers, Helen and Lisa, and the rest of the team over at the Twofer Card Challenge blog!

Thanks for coming over to visit!
May the Lord bless you today!

  1. Your use of the tree line die to create both a fall and winter card is brilliant Kara! The trees simply glisten on the Christmas card. I love how the sentiment flows with the snowdrift! And the colors of your fall card is spectacular! Lots of wonderful texture on that card and great use of those dies together. Two beautiful cards of inspiration here!

  2. Those soft blue trees just sparkle with the glimmer paste standing in the forest. I love the bright fall colors and the background of the second card. Both are so pretty.

  3. Fabulous Twofer, Kara - just love both cards!! So clever to snip away the houses and just use the trees! Maybe Poppystamps should bring this one back that way!! The autumn trees looks amazing in those colors and atop the chevron background!!

  4. I love your timely fall and winter designs, Kara! Wow, does that flowing sediment fit just precisely perfectly along your snowy hill or what?! I would be shaking too much to pull that off, but you did it beautifully! I love how you cut the forest from the trees, er, I mean, the forest from the houses and let them be the star of the Christmas card with their shimmery, glittery, schparkly faces! And your fall Hugs is a fantastic scene with those paper-pieced colorful trees and cool embossed chipboard background! A layered textural delight! Keep well! Miss you! Hugs, Darnell

  11. Those shimmery Christmas-sy trees are so deliciously sparkly and magical, Kara ... the soft, frosty colour is wonderful ... and I love how you set the sentiment on the hills! Your autumn scene looks as though it's just the place to hunker down and craft during the cooler months ... while looking out on those fall colours running through the trees! Puts me in mind of a certain somewhere ... and it's lovely ... so cosy and warm! Big hugs and bisous, Anita :)

  12. Not only two different designs but two different feels with your wonderful cards, Kara. I almost thought there was something wrong with my screen looking at that soft blue glittery Christmas card. So cool and lovely. And then all the Fall colors giving off a warm glow. Such patience to put in all those windows.

  13. That's some mighty fine fussy cutting, Sally. Before looking at your more Fallish card, I'd thought you'd cut the houses away from the ends. Dang girl! That's a beautiful Christmas card with gorgeous colors and sparkles. I do like it rather very much. Your 'hugs' card is awesomepossum too. Can't even begin to imagine how long it took to re-lay those bits on your background...but it was worth every second; very, very cool. Anita is right. I can almost smell the Fall trees at the Lake house. Missing you and sending xoxo. Bev
