Wedding Carriage

Here's a card for a wonderful couple getting married in August.  Phew, good to be early with a card!  Lili's Little Fairies Challenge this week is "Transport", and what an elegant image for the occasion.  It reminds me of the carriage ride we had at our wedding.  I'd show you a picture, but that was before digital, so...pretend this is us.

The background papers are from The Paper Company.  They are a sort-of shiny linen.  I don't know the pearl embossed panel, it is from my stash.  I wanted to keep the color subtle so I shaded the image, Wedding Carriage, with Copics and blended the edges with Ranger Distress Ink Old Paper and Black Soot.  I added Glossy Accents to the flowers and used Doodlebug pink flock.  I added a darker pink with Copics.  I added Crayola white pearl glue to the ribbons and glitter glue to the veil and gown.  I then spritzed  the image and paper lace with Tsukineko Sparkle Shimmer Spritz.  Too bad all the shimmer doesn't show up on camera.  My first time around I colored the leaves green, but I redid the whole thing because it wasn't subtle enough.  The digital die cuts are Elegant Double Posts, and Scroll Banner Layered from Silhouette.  The ribbons and gems are from my stash.  I shaded the banner with Copics.  The sentiment is from Hot Off the Press, Tiny Words/Images.  I curved it on the block to follow the shape of the banner and embossed it in black.

This card is entered in the following challenges:
Lili's Little Fairies Challenge: Transport
Totally Gorjuss: Bling
Paper Sundaes: Anything Goes

Hope you all have a great day!
Kara Lynne

    1. Kim, Copics are expensive. I started with the skin tone six-pack so I could get faces blended well and use other techniques for the rest of the image (paper piecing, chalk, ink, etc. Now I buy them one at a time and I only buy them from Michael's or Hobby Lobby with a 40% or 50% coupon. One a week, I look at it as a treat instead of a coffee! Of course birthdays and Christmas helped. In that case I bought from Drafting Supplies, DEW. They were under $5, but I saw them go up in price now, but free shipping over $50.

  4. Kara, I had a giveaway on my blog your name was chosen. Please email me I'll send you over the details. catherine dot koenig at gmail dot com. I to adore Copic's and yes they are expensive but worth every penny. The new Spectrum Noir markers are much cheaper and for the most part give you the same coloring. If your just starting out you might want to give those a try.

  5. I should hide this comment lol, but I bought 108 Spectrum Noir's and sorry I went back to my promarkers. I have the fine tip added to most of them and now have the full set. I have now started collecting the Flexmarkers which are the nearest thing to Copics. I do have a few copics but over in England they are around £5 each, over $8.
Aww Kara I wish we had a Michaels here. I found one in Orlando last year and just wished I had more room in my suitcase. Unfortunately that was before I got the stamping, colouring bug, so never bought pens there.
Now back to your beautiful card Kara... I love that image, and the use of flock is great.
Oh and well done on your win

    1. Eileen, that's too funny! I commend your honesty! I had never heard of Promarkers when I started my Copic collection. Obviously by your works of art, I see they work very nicely for you. So sorry you didn't like the Spectum Noir. I've never tried them, but I'm sure 108 was an investment. I think Michaels and Hobby Lobby are missing out by not branching the puddle!
