Twofer Card Challenge #5: Butterflies

A brand new Twofer Card Challenge starts today!  Our theme this time is butterflies.  I used the same die on both cards from MFT's Flutter of Butterflies - lace.
The first card focuses on patterned paper and a shaped edge border whereas the second card is all about gold heat embossing and whimsical watercoloring.

The blue/gold card was fun to create.  I painted along the heat embossed swirls with a blue Zig CCRB pen.  The solid portion of the butterflies was inked in gold and the lace portion was partially embossed and watercolored with the same blue marker.  The white sentiment on the bottom balances the white at the top.

The 'Miss You' card is all patterned paper and acetate.  The acetate adds a subtle texture to the wings, but lets the pp remain the focus.

It's all aflutter over at the Twofer Card Challenge blog with new creations from the design team, and we'd love to have you join us!

  10. Both stunning creations in their own right Kara. The blue/gold butterflies are breathtaking - so shimmery and the acetate on top of the butterflies just adds so much to those colourful butterflies. Love the layout on that one. So cool! 11. Your designs just took my breath away this month, Kara! The thought you put into your creations is so evident with each incredible detail! I love the rich elegance of your gold-tipped royal blue butterflies swirling in play on your birthday card! And the use of acetate to further elevate an already sensational design on your missing you card was inspired! I would never have thought of that and now I can only hope I remember it! The pp is so pretty and I love that you heat-embossed your sediment in white!! Hugs, Darnell

  19. Gosh, each one of these butterfly cards is just so beautiful, with the different effects you've used. The blue & gold is stunning, with the blue zig around the gold embossing; and I love the look of the acetate texture over the lovely design paper that you've used to cut out the butterflies. The use of these butterflies to create the edging on the card front is such a brilliant design idea. TFS & Hugs
