Ice Fishing in the Moonlight

This bear and bird ought to learn how to read.  Ah, but ignorance is bliss:
I stamped and masked the images and die cut a circle out of a sticky note for the moon.  I then ink blended the background.  I unmasked and colored the images, including the moon and the inked background for shadows and shading.  I used a colored pencil to add the carved lettering to the sign.
It doesn't look like that bear is working too hard, those fish are just jumping right out of the hole!

Supplies:
Purple Onion Designs Stamps:  Arthur, Wren, Frozen Pond, Ice Hut, Winter Sign
Distress Ink: Salty Ocean, Chipped Sapphire, Black Soot
Copic Markers:  BV20,23,25,29, YG91,93,97, E40,41,42,43,44,47,49, C00,2,4,6,8, B0000,32,91,93, R30,32,35,37,39

Thanks for coming over to visit!  May the Lord bless you today!

  5. Wow, what a great scene this is, Kara. The sky is amazing and the coloring is so well done. The splash is my favorite thing about this card, it makes it so real life. I have to go wipe my hands dry now.

  8. I'm speechless, Kara ... at least I would be if we were together IRL looking at this incredible artwork! As we're not ... suffice to say your colouring and detailing skills are extraordinary ... they're certainly one of your super powers ... amazing! This would be so lovely on the wall of a child's bedroom! Big hugs and bisous, Anita :)

  10. WOW! Your colouring is incredible Kara. My only hope is that the little bird was able to catch the fish, I'm worried for him lol.

  12. Had to come by for a closer look on your blog of this FABULOUS card Kara! Have to tell you that I always love your funny little comments at the beginnings of your blog posts too, and today's just cracked me up! The whole scene is just delightful, but the bear and bird with their hats has me just swooning over your coloring! You could so easily be a children's book illustrator! As always, lovely, lovely card my friend! Hugs. :0)

  13. If you don't submit this to some (several) magazines, I'm coming out there to slap you! I have no idea how you did this, Kara, and I'm fascinated by it. Love to see a video of this or perhaps a tutorial in person this fall of how you blended the grays. And your no-line watercoloring is nothing short of perfection!! Hugs of awe, Darnell
