We took our girls camping this past weekend in Door County. It's about 1 1/2 hours away from the house, so it's perfect for a weekend get-away. So glad the majority of the rain held off because now we're having severe thunderstorms. Does anyone else camp? We have a pop up, also known as a tent camper. I have found that people have distinct ideas about what is camping, but if you want this Mamma to come along, best to give me a bed and a roof! It was Father's Day weekend, of course, and the girls and I pampered my wonderful husband as much as we could, but so much of the manly camping duties do fall to him. Thankfully, he loves it, and he finds these times with the family priceless.
I made this card for the Lili's Little Fairies challenge. The theme this week is "In the Garden." This image from LOTV, Blossom, reminds me of my favorite garden activity as a girl: climbing trees!
The image was colored with Copics. I tied a bit of craft thread in her hair, and raised the lower parts of the image with foam. All of the papers are from the Prima Madeline Collection 6"X6" paper stack. I cut out the "frame" from one of the papers, and made a hill out of the inside of it. I used three other papers to create the sky, grass, and path. The fence is a Sihouette cut from their online store, and the little pink circle flowers are from an EK Success punch I can't seem to find online. I thought the card was getting too cluttered for a sentiment, so that will go inside depending on the situation. I will also probably write the person's name in the little sentiment area you see in the lower left, it is part of the paper design.
You were all so busy! I hope I've caught up with following your
wonderful blogs, but if I've missed coming over, please forgive me. I'm
meeting so many beautiful, talented ladies through blogging, and there
seems to be new faces and exciting new blogs to discover every day! I got home to find a lovely surprise on Virginia L's blog! She randomly selected my comment from her spotlight as Moxie Fabber of the Week on Moxie Fab World. Thank you, Virginia! Look at what she so generously gave me:
Thank you for coming over, and for your encouraging comments! I hope you have a great day.
Kara Lynne
My husband was sent home from work early because of those thunderstorms! Better he's safe than sorry though. Your card is delightfully cute! Great color, and amazing fussy cutting!
ReplyDeleteI hope you guys are okay in that weather!
ReplyDeleteYour weekend camping at Door County sounds wonderful, but then I think all of Wisconsin is beautiful! We camped often until just a few years ago and had a tent trailer for the last few. It's pure luxury. Back when people were rubbing sticks together to make fire, we camped in tents, then we moved up to (really cheap) cabins, then to a Volkswagon Vanagon, then finally the Hilton of camping, the tent trailer. (Don't tell Mister, but there are times when I miss those campouts!)
Your card is as sweet as molasses! I'll bet you not only climbed trees, but you looked just like that little girl!
I'm glad you finally saw your win on Virginia's blog, Kara Lynne - yay for you! :) And I must say, this is one special card! LOVE the pretty paper and your beautiful coloring on that sweet image!
ReplyDeleteLove Door County - it's such a neat place for family camping - sounds like you had a fab weekend! :)
This card is simply adorable! Your coloring so is perfect, love the shading in her hair. Really gorgeous all around!
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on camping...I need a bed and running water! Congrats on your comment to win,, it's always fun to get
this is an adorable card Kara Lynne. Sounds like your camping trip was fun. When our children were younger we would camp near the beach. We have a tent.... but it's enormous. Three rooms~ as we could close in the front portion. Haven't been for a couple of years now, as we have some friends with a holiday house. I miss the camping though.
ReplyDeleteYou just make the sweetest cards - so many wonderful and pretty details here - perfectly put together!
ReplyDeleteHave a great day, hugs, Karin
Your coloring is gorgeous and this card is so darling!
ReplyDeleteI have not camped in years. (And that would be in a motor home) Give me a bed any day! I am not an outdoorsy camping kind of girl unless I am in a camper! :-)))) Wonderful memories though!

ReplyDeleteSounds as if you had a great weekend Kara... I am jealous, it never stopped raining here, the wedding was nearly a washout.

Congrats on the random prize win Kara. So glad you had a nice weekend and FD. I went camping for the first time since I was a teenager , last year in Yosemite . I love the outdoors but like to stay in the historic hotels of the National Parks. I have to say I had a blast , we did half and half , but I missed the late night campfires with all the people.
ReplyDeleteOk now to the card. Gorgeous. Love it, all of it! Not too cluttered.

Such a charming little scene! Congrats on your win--enjoy your goodies!
ReplyDeleteThis is very clever, Kara, love how you've put her in the little scene and there are so many gorgeous fine details.
ReplyDeleteYep we camp too, although the kids are getting a bit older now so I think our days are numbered. We've had some fun times over the years but it's so dependant on the weather - it's great if the sun is shining and not so great if it's raining!
