How Tweet of You

I am happy to be hopping on the Paper Smooches band wagon!  Did you know Archiver's is now selling some of their sentiment sets?  Woohoo!  I have two of the image sets and now I have two sentiment sets.  Here's the problem, I WANT MORE!  Oh, crafting can bring out the good and bad in me - happy to create, yet never satisfied.  We decided to become a one-income family, and when my first daughter was born, I quit my job as a speech pathologist.  I've never looked back, thankfully.  The time is going so fast, and I love being home.  All that to say, I have an allowance that feeds my crafting "needs".  I just got a raise, I get $15 every other week (it was $12.50).  To some of you that may be a lot and to some not so much, but it keeps me in line - ha!.  Christmas, birthday and garage sales help a lot!  How do you fund your hobby?

There is a fun photo inspired challenge going on at the Paper Smooches SPARKS blog, and there's still time to play.
Here's my card:

It means so much to me that you stopped by for a visit.  I hope you are having a great day!

  2. This is really cute Kara. That little bird looks so happy. I wouldn't like to add up how much I spend on craft every month but think its usually between $2-300...(sometimes more) yep hundreds... think I am a shopaholic. The joy of being single with no one to answer to. But.... I have decided to reign myself in over the next 3 months. We are going to Egypt again in October and I really need to save a little for it.. well a lot really, can't keep dipping into my savings.

  3. A really great Kara, I just love your style hun. Love the birdy. I don't have a budget as such but it might be a good idea as it can easily mount up.

  4. Right off the bat...LOVE this cute card. I see a winner!!!

Second: "happy to create, yet never satisfied"...I feel you! One income family here too. I love being there for my kids but it totally means I'm on a budget on everything but food. No allowance I just get whatever, whenever I can :)

  5. This shiny little bird is so cute, Kara! We are currently a one income family, but I need to find full time employment soon - :( Have SO loved being a stay at home mom. I won't have as much time to devote to crafting (gasp) when said job happens. Not looking forward to that...

  6. So glad you were able to purchase some PS stamps! They offer a publication incentive so if you are trying to submit, perhaps you could focus on using those sets to get more?! I love them myself! And this card is grand, great design with the opposing circles and the colors.

  7. That's an adorable card made from adorable stamps! I hear you about never being satisfied. I think my "stash" looked shocking to lots of people at WOYWW ... I wish I would have remembered to add a sentence reminding everyone that I've been stamping for over ten years and MOST of my stamps came from garage sales and store swap meets and friends who quit, and (sadly) a neighbor who died. It's been fun because those are the stamps that have a "story" that I remember when I go to use them.

Your budget sounds really healthy to me. With sales and lots of competition online, you should be able to control your addiction with that amount.

It's also awesome that you get to be home with your children! That time goes by so fast!! How wonderful that you can be there, making memories for them, and for you.

  10. Adorable , fun and happy card Kara. You do so well with everything you make. I have not bought any Paper Smooches stamps yet. I made the same choice as you to stay home after my first child was born…. Never ever looked back. I know I over spend when I haven't inked up new stamps yet.. So I think what you spend is a good idea ...

  13. I'm slowly collecting PS too-I got 2 sets in the Paper Crafts prize I just won! I adore your card-made me smile! You are so disciplined for staying with the allowance! I sort of buy something right after we get paid-before we miss the $$. That's so bad, I know! I've heard of a group on Facebook that is just for buying/selling crafting supplies. I've never seen it but I've heard of it. Might be worth looking into. Also, a lot of crafty peeps sell stamps on their blogs. Like Britta did a while a ago. I buy that way a lot too. Used but still loved!

  14. This is such a sweet card! That little bird is adorable! And I love the color combo! I am on a budget so my favorite way to get "extra" stamps is to try and win it via contests or find it at thrift stores or second hand on ETSY or people's blogs. I also borrow stamp sets occasionally from a friend which helps because we each buy a different set and then trade them for periods of time! Stamp swapping 101! :)
