Smiles and Wishes

Today I am joining City Crafter Challenge week 256 where they are celebrating their anniversary all month by each week allowing us to CASE one of the design team's card.  This week it's Samra's card.  If you've never visited Samra's blog, you really should, for your own sake.  It's a feast for the eyes!  She can do amazing things with paste, gesso, and her hand-made flowers that I cannot even dream of!

I did want to play along, however, and this is what I bring to the table:
Using water color paper, I heat embossed SSS Artful Flowers in white and then painted them with Twinkling H2Os.  I also painted the frame, cut using SSS Stitched Rectangles.  The inner frame is cut with a die from PTI's Shakers + Sprinkles on PTI cs.  The sentiment, from PTI's Stylish Sentiment: Birthday, was heat embossed in Zing Purple.  The frame and flowers behind the vellum were adhered with foam adhesive.

Here's Samra's beautiful card:
Isn't it so soft and elegant!

My next card is for the wonderful challenge over at Simon Says Stamp Flickr group challenge #16: Watercolor
A little more CAS this time.  I again used SSS Artful Flowers and the same Twinkling H2Os on watercolor paper.  The back panel is also watercolor paper.  I cut out and inlaid SSS Wishing die, also painted with Twinkling H2Os.  The rest of the sentiment is from SSS Sending and Wishing stamp set and it was heat embossed in Zing purple.

I'm editing this post to include my second card over at CCCB.  It was my original CASE of Samra, but then I went with the other card.  Thank you, Samra, for encouraging me to include this one as well!

Thanks so much for coming over to visit!  I hope you have a wonderful day!

Welcome Baby!

I think this is the first time I've added more than one card on a post.  It's a bit picture laden today.  I've been working through a collection of Doodlebug papers that I just adore, and decided to post them all at once.  I think I will have baby cards to last through the next decade!  Thank you, Taunya from Daisies Girl for your Twelve Days of Doodlebug and inspiring me to pull out some of my own!
I used Doodlebug Baby Boy stamps and Sizzix matching dies.  The papers are from Doodlebug Sugar and Spice 6x6 pad.  The scalloped frame is from PTI's Shakers+Sprinkles, the card base and twine are Hobby Lobby and the tiny clothes pins are from Walmart.

This card is joining the fun over at:

My next cards are CAS:

I used a Silhouette cut file for the onsie, the little buttons are from Joann's, the yellow cs is from PTI, and the banner die and sentiment are Simon Says Stamp's Tilted Banners

This duo is going over to wish CASology DT member, Gillian, and her family a huge CONGRATULATIONS on their new arrival!  CASology's week 141 cue word is: NEWS
I'm also linking these guys up to Addicted to CAS where the code word is: CUTE
The rest of my cards are just coming along for the ride!

Thank you so much for coming over to visit, especially for such a long post.  I hope you are enjoying your day!

Time to Settle In

I had a sketch lying around on my desk for a while, and my daughter, Kate, saw it and thought I should make it into a card.  It's so sweet that she cares!   Monika, of Creative with Monika, sent me a wonderful sentiment that is just perfect for it:

I'm not sure who made the sentiment stamp.  The images are from Paper Smooches Bitty Bungalows, Hang Ups, and Spring Groves.  The papers were scraps I had from The Paper Studio's Khloe Lane, and other snips.  I played again with dimension by popping up the background with fun foam, then popped the various images up with foam adhesive.  The background was cut out using SSS Stitched Rectangles and Mama Elephant's Landscape Trio.  The mailboxes were covered with a silver Sharpie and the mushrooms were given white spots with a Gelly Roll pen.

After I photographed the card, I realized I should've created a frame with the background and put the sentiment one layer down to add even more dimension, but that will have to wait for another day.

This card is joining in the fun over at the following challenges:

Paper Smooches Sparks:  Anything Goes             Virginia's View #14: Layers and Dimension

Thank you so much for coming over to visit!  I hope you are settled in and living your life to the fullest!

What a Wonderful World

Spring break is over, and it's time for that last leg of school before summer vacation!  As a kid, school years lasted forever, but as a mom, they just whoosh on by so fast, I can't believe it!  My grandma was right when she said it feels like it takes eighteen years for them to turn five, and five years for them to turn eighteen!

I had a little time to color with Copics during the break, so I wanted to make a card using some of my new supplies.  The flowers and sentiment are from Serendipity Stamps, and the tag, some ribbon, and the enamel dots are from Michele of Crimson Owl Creations:

The flowers are Serendipity Stamps, Summer Flower Pops.  I wanted the flowers to look like Gerbera daisies.  I stamped them on the panel, and then stamped a second flower for each, and cut out just the top layer of petals, which is popped up with foam adhesive.  Next, I layered the tag partially up on foam tape, and the sentiment (Serendipity Stamps, And I Think to Myself) partially popped up with foam tape in the other direction.  Then I layered the ribbons together.  See a pattern here?  All my layers are intentional so I can play over at Virginia's View Challenge #14 which is all about layering and dimension!

This card was inspired by the following challenges:

Serendipity Stamps Challenge Blog #42: Monograms and Verse.  My verse takes center stage on this card.  I love that sentiment!  I can hear Louis Armstrong singing it every time I see it, and it is so beautifully written!

Virginia's View Challenge #14:  Layers and Dimensions  I LOVE dimension, thanks for this challenge, Virginia!

Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge:  A is for...  AND (the first word of my sentiment).

Before I go, I want to thank Jess from All the Sparkle for my wonderful prize gift.  Thank you, Jess!

Thank you for coming over to visit!  I hope you have a great day, and now that break is over, I hope to visit you all soon!
