A Bookworm Birthday

I'm sharing a card today that I made for a voracious reader (I just liked using the word voracious).  Anyway, I haven't inked up the Our Story MFT stamp set yet, and I was inspired by the many great cards that used it in the MFT Superstar challenge.  This is the inside of the card and the chair and table are popped up.
This is how I imagine my dear aunt enjoying her birthday - curled up with her yellow lab and kitty.  A banner in the back says it's her birthday, but she enjoys quiet time alone.  You may recognize the images in the picture on the wall behind the girl.  They are from the MFT stamp set Up in the Air.

Here's the front of the card:

Supplies:
Stamps:  MFT Our Story, Up in the Air, Happy Hippos (balloons)
Dies:  MFT Celebrate, Fringed Scalloped Borders, Stitched Scallop Basic Edge, Inside and Out Stitched Rounded Rectangle Stax, Pop Up Elements Narrow
Copics:  E000, 00, 11,31,33,35,37,39,50, C00,0,2,7,8, BG70,72,75,78, YG00, 03,06, Y21,23,26, R00, 12,14, YR00,20 BV00
Patterned Paper:  MFT Dots and Stripes Confection, Plaid Patterns
Other:  Woodgrain embossing folder, DI Tea Dye, Memento Tuxedo Black Ink

This card is going over to play in the following challenges:

Yay!  It's Darnell's 12th NBUS Challenge!  All three stamp sets I mentioned are NBUS!

There's A Mermaid in the Lake

Imagine this surprise whist taking a walk through the woods one crisp autumn day!  I think the mermaid looks a bit more surprised than the curious little girl.
The card is a vertical tri-fold which splits where the water and land meet.  As a tri-fold, the card opens twice.  Here's the middle when the bottom flap is opened:
A close-up of this little lady in the lake:

Let's Do the Conga with MFT Princesses!

I have a pop-up card to share today that I made with the MFT Card Design Superstar Contest in mind.  This is the inside of the card, and these princesses are on their way to the castle via conga line!
Here's a close-up of the princesses.  They are a nod to Sandy Allnock and her human rainbow.  It is the same stamp image used for each girl, and I give details about the Copic colors I used on each girl below.

Here is a little more detail on the bridge dimension:
The card, of course, closes flat, and here is the front design:
It was so much fun playing with different skin color and hair styles!  Here's a close up of each girl:

If you're interested in the process, I took several photos along the way:
First, the pop-up elements were die cut and the water, sky, and bridge support were inked.
Second, I added the cobble walkway (Copic free form rock shapes), the back of the bridge, and the clouds.
Next came the back towers and the front wall.  The arches were die cut using the castle door die.
Finally, I attached the front towers, and voila!  We have a bridge!  The girls were adhered together to form their conga line, and attached with a scored piece of cardstock to the bridge.  Sort of like a long L bracket.

I felt like a civil engineer designing my little paper pop-up!  It was so much fun, and a great way to display that rainbow of princesses.  I will enter the card into the Innovation Master category of the MFT Card Design Superstar Contest.

Back from a Summer Break and TYI Challenge #73

Hello!  It's so good to be back to blogging.  I hope you had a great summer (or winter, depending on your hemisphere).  The time seemed to whiz by, but it was a much needed break with my family and all the activities of summer.  Our girls are turning 14 and 16, and will be out the door before I realize what's happening!

I'm starting out fall with a thank you tag for Tag, You're It! inspired by my talented friend, Tracey:

Here's Tracey's beautiful tag:
Who can resist the resist!  That was the first thing that caught me eye with Tracey's beautiful medallion and water droplets.  Secondly, I wanted to reflect the tag's bottom edge with the picket fence.  Fall, apples, and picket fences - so much for which to be thankful!

Supplies:
Stamps:  PTI What the Doodle Apple
Dies:  Lawn Fawn Little Picket Fence Border
Ink:  DI Candied Apple, Picked Raspberry, Memento Tuxedo Black, VersaMark
Other:  SSS White Fine Detail embossing powder, spray bottle, water, thread from Hobby Lobby, finger daubers, Making Memories eyelet tool (to make the hole on the top of the tag).

Check out how others were inspired and join us in CASEing Tracey's tag over at Tag, You're It!  Thanks so much for coming over to visit!  I hope you have a wonderful day, and I will be around to catch up in blogland soon!
