The Twelve Kits of Occasions - November

Is it really the last day of November?  Why yes, it is!  That means it's time for another installment of the Twelve Kits of Occasions and our hostess this month is Lindsey Larsen!  She packed a mighty merry kit full of Christmas cheer:

A little masking and ink blending, and this little scene fell together nicely.

This little fox is so sweet clustered with all his Christmas goodies.

Lindsey's papers and images made it so easy and fun to create these botanical cards.

Silver, gold, and a layer of soft printed vellum completed this nativity scene.

I loved Lindsey's vellum, so I continued with a little printed vellum of my own.
I love the copper, cream, and green colors together.  I added some white Nuvo drops.
No photo description available.
Thank you, Lindsey, for this fantastic kit!  I enjoyed every bit of it!  A list of all the supplies included in the kit can be found at the Twelve Kits of Occasions blog.  Please head on over there to see what the team created with Lindsey's kit!

Purple Onion Designs Sale!

These three got up early to enjoy the sunrise on this snowy day off of school.  Looks like their mommas all got the same red and white yarn on sale for their scarves and mittens.
The background was stamped second generation so it's lighter than the animals.  Everything was colored with Copic Markers, and the sentiment was stamped in CP Eucalyptus.

Purple Onion Designs Stamps:
Ember (bunny), Jasper (fox), Blaze (skunk), Winter Trail Background, Warming Winter Thoughts

There's a sale going on now over at Purple Onion Designs.  All rubber stamps are 25% off!

So Much for Which to be Thankful!

During Brenda's retreat in October, many of my friends shared fun inking techniques and I'm just now starting to make them into cards.  Here are just a couple of them:
Thanks to Darnell, I created this background using Lindy's Magicals on yupo paper.  No alcohol required (we saved that for happy hour). Darnell also gifted us this adorable stamp set by Whimsy Stamps:  Addicted to Rubber Stamps.  This lady sort of reminds me of the ending credits of the Carol Burnett show, although she wasn't so pleasantly plump.

Brenda taught us a technique using embossing powder to create a patina effect.  She also gifted us this wonderful stamp set from Penny Black: Strength.  This sentiment in particular makes me think of all my crafting friends scattered all over the world!

I sure am thankful to all of you for your support, encouragement, and inspiration.  I know I wouldn't have a fraction of the fun with this hobby without all of you!

The 25 Days of Christmas Tags: Lawn Fawn Spinner Tag

Lawn Fawn is participating in Tracey McNeeley's 25 Days of Christmas Tags, and I am so thrilled to join in the fun!  I created a spinner tag by mirror stamping the little skating mouse that looks like he's twirling around.  One side says Merry Christmas and the other says Happy New Year.  The to/from flag is the banner from the Center Picture Window Card die set with the center score line already embossed!

It may just be possible to see the shimmer from the glitter pen on the snow globe:
I hope you've been enjoying Tracey's event and playing along!

Twofer Card Challenge #22: Holiday Greenery

Grab your holiday greenery stamps, stencils, or dies, and join us for this month's Twofer Card Challenge!  This month, since it's Christmas card making crunch time, Twofer is allowing the two cards to be for the SAME occasion!  My stamp of choice (actually 2) are from PTI's Spruce and Sprigs.  I still decided to use two different occasions, because I use thank you cards at Christmas for people that are so helpful all year long, such as the piano teacher and our hair stylist.
On my Christmas card, I stamped the holly, fussy cut them, and silver heat embossed the edges.  The berries were die cut from red cs with a dot of silver embossing.  The panel was dry embossed with the addition of a circle diffuser so that I could stamp and heat emboss the sentiment on a flat surface.
On the thank you card, the holly, berries, and sprigs of pine were stamped using the MISTI so they could be re-stamped to shade with darker ink.  The card base was flipped so the cluster is the same on the bottom left as it is on the upper right.  The panel was ink blended with PTI Ocean Tides and then speckled with the same ink, watered down and flicked on with a stiff paint brush.  The panel was then die cut with a stitched rectangle.

I hope you will join us for this festive Twofer this month!  Please stop by the Twofer Card Challenge blog and take a look at the wonderful inspiration from our guest designers and design team.

Supplies:
Stamps:  PTI Spruce and Sprigs, O Holy Night
Dies:  PTI Big Basics: Thanks, SSS Stitched Rectangles, LF Center Picture Window (sun for berries)
Ink:  PTI Ocean Tides, Pinefeather, Prairie Glass, Ripe Avocado, Cocoa Bean, Pure Poppy, Scarlet Jewel, VersaMark Marker
Paper:  PTI Pure Poppy, Smokey Shadow
Other:  SSS Ultra Fine Silver EP, Tim Holtz Embossing Diffuser, WeRMemory Keepers Next Level EF - Geometric, Copic R59

Tag, You're It! is Celebrating it's 100th Challenge!

Today we are celebrating Tag, You're It's 100th challenge by collaborating with Tracey McNeeley's 25 Days of Christmas Tags!  Here's my Christmas tag for the occasion:
Here's the back of the tag, ready for writing out the gift recipient and sender's names.
The little fox was colored with Copic markers and colored pencils, fussy cut, and set on a Copic and white gel pen background.  The tag is really two white tags together with a pink scalloped circle between them, and the top of the tag was cut in the same pink color for both sides of the tag.  I added a silver frame cut with two circle dies together.

Stop by the Tag, You're It! blog for much more inspiration and join us in making a Christmas tag for the occasion.  You can link your tag to both events!  Thank you, Tracey, for this fun event and for all you do for Tag, You're It!

Crafty Friends are the Best!

Earlier in October, I was invited by Brenda of Inkspired to Stamp, to come to Indiana for a crafting retreat.  Of course I jumped at the chance to meet this amazing lady in person, plus some other crafting friends I knew from blogging, and catch up with those I had already met.  Brenda's SIL (and partner in crime) came too, so I got to meet another one of those amazing people that becomes a fast friend.

Here's a few photos from the trip:

L-R Back Row: Linda, Greta, Me, Maria, Colleen, Front Row: Brenda, Darnell, Sharon

I'm so late in posting this because as soon as I got home, we started the process of moving my mom to live with us.  We've been moving and cleaning out her apartment ever since.  Meanwhile, homecoming, fall yard cleanup, and general day to day "have tos" have rounded out the time.  I am so thankful to Brenda for inviting me, for camaraderie among friends, and for the beautiful weather and setting.  It was truly a retreat from normal daily life, and one I will cherish always!

I leave you now with this wonderful photo of Colleen as the Headless Horseman!
