Sweet 16 Today!

Our oldest daughter, Elizabeth, turned sixteen today.  When did that happen?  I decided to make a little CAS note card to match the wrapping paper.
Although, they look yellow here, the leggings and cake bottom are a limey green.  For some reason, that color never photographs well for me.  Any suggestions?  The image was heat embossed in silver and colored with Inktense pencils.  The letters were cut using the Sihouette.

I used the MFT Gift Card Envelope die to make an envelope out of wrapping paper.  Here you can see the back and front:
and tucked in with the gift:

Supplies:
Stamps:  Penny Black  A Little Bird
Dies:  MFT Gift Card Envelope die-namic
Ink:  VersaMark
Other:  Derwent Inktense Pencils,  SSS ultra fine silver embossing powder, Paper Studio silver mirror paper, Silhouette Cameo.

This card is going over to play in the SSS Wednesday Challenge: Food and/or Drink.

Thanks for coming over to visit.  I hope you're having a wonderful day!

A Wild Holiday!

I was inspired by Elena Roussakis' Lawn Fawn tag on day 12 of Tracey McNeeley's 25 Days of Christmas Tags.  Elena made a tag with a lift-the-flap feature and a sweet Lawn Fawn scene.  Here's my CASE:

I also wanted to play over at the latest Lawn Fawnatics Challenge.

The Hats Off to You is my oldest set, which was perfect for this tag!  I tailored down one of the hats to fit the croc, gave the lion some earmuffs, and donned the giraffe and little elephant in scarves that I drew with a Copic Multiliner.  Those scarves were kind of fun to put on - I cut off their heads (gruesome, I know), glued the scarf to the body, and glued the head on top of it.  All the elements including the banner were fussy cut.  The tag was cut the old fashioned way.  I just chopped two corners out of a rectangle of both white and patterned paper, and punched a whole through them.  The flap was die cut into the top layer and the gift card slots were die cut into the bottom layer.  I used the LF Road Border to create the snow hills.  The inside background and banner were ink blended.  I gave the little elephant a sign made with a black piece of cs heat embossed in white and glued to a brown paper "stick".

Supplies:
Stamps:  LF Wild for You, LF Hats Off to You, LF Happy, Happy, Happy, LF Bannertastic
Dies:  LF Lift the Flap, LF Simple Gift Card Slots, LF Road Border
Ink:  DI Twisted Citron, DI Mowed Lawn, DI Peacock Feathers, VersaMark, Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper:  LF Perfectly Plaid - Rainbow
Copics:  0, E11,13,31,49, YG 03,06,11,13, G05,14, Y11,13,15,26, YR14, R27,29,39,59, W1,3, C00,0,1,2,3,5, Multiliner 0.3
Other:  Sharpie - Silver Metallic, Scrap of ribbon

Thanks for coming over for a visit.  I hope you have a wonderful day!

MFT Sketch Challenge - Joy

I had some fun with this week's MFT sketch.  Here's my take:
This is one talented bear.  The "Joy" sentiment was heat embossed in white and then extended with a VersaMark pen and more heat embossing to look like he wrote it on the ice with his skate.  The background was a scrap of Brusho water colored paper that I cut using MFT's Horizontal Snow Drifts to give the background a little movement.  I glitzed up the scarf and background with Wink of Stella and added Nuvo Crystal Drops to the skates and as drop accents on the card.  Do you see where I touched the skate before it was dry?  Every time, am I right?

Here's the sketch from MFT Challenge 359:

Supplies:
Stamps:  MFT Polar Bear Pals, Gift Tag Greetings
Dies: MFT Horizontal Snow Drifts Cover Up, Four Way Chevron Cover Up, Stitched Square Frames, Stylish Snowflakes, Let it Snowflake Too
Ink/Paint: Memento Tuxedo Black, Brusho Turquoise, Ultra Marine, Purple
Copics: 0, C00,0,1,3, 5,B000,00,02,05,16,V01,04,06,09
Other: Sharpie marker - silver,  Nuvo Crystal Drops - Morning Dew, Wink of Stella - Clear

25 Days of Christmas Tags CASE

My blog feed is exploding with Christmas tag inspiration, thanks to Tracey McNeely's 25 Days of Christmas Tags hop.  Usually the days around here are so full that I just get to look in awe.  Today, however, I got to play!  Here's my tag:

It was inspired by designer Flora Monika Farkas on day 5.  I loved the look of her plaid on both the tag and the ribbon.  She also stamped her Christmas tree directly on her tag so I was challenged to stamp directly on the tag too.  The berry clusters in the front, however, were stamped separately and pieced.
Supplies:
Stamps:  PTI Spruce and Sprigs, PTI Christmas Cheer
Dies:  PTI Christmas Cheer, Poppy Stamps Stitched Main Street Tags, MFT Tag Builder Blueprint 4
Ink:  PTI Pure Poppy, Scarlet Jewel, Ripe Avocado, Simply Chartreuse, Prairie Grass
Paper:  Southfield Tartan Craft Papers
Other:  SSS Fine Detail Embossing Powder, Distress Marker Gathered Twigs, ribbon snippets of unknown origin

I hope you have the chance to join in on the fun over at Tracey's blog.  It's day 14, so there's still time!  I'm hoping to give it another go!

Tag, You're It! #77 With Hazel Kinvig-Paul

It's time for a new challenge over at Tag, You're It!  We're CASEing a dear blogging friend of mine, Hazel Kinvig-Paul of My Card Attic.

When I CASE someone's work, I like to sketch out their card or tag first.  It helps me to look closer at the elements within the design.  Hazel has some remarkable details that I wanted to include on my tag:
Here's Hazel's tag:

There are several obvious similarities in our tags such as the baby theme, baby clothes, scripty sentiment and bow.  One less obvious element would be the connection between the clothing and the tag itself.  Hazel placed the neck of the onsie right on the hole of the tag, which was very clever.  I connected the clothing to the tag by hanging it on the sentiment.  Hazel also has hearts in the background to reflect the little heart on the onsie, so I used a star on the overalls and scattered some in the background as well.

Supplies:
Stamps:  MFT Denim Background
Dies: MFT Creative Clips, MFT Tag Builder Blue Prints 4, Bundles of Baby Clothes, SSS Hand-lettered Greetings
Other: Tumbled Glass DI, Brusho - Scarlet, Brilliant Red, Orange, Yellow, Copic C0, Sharpie - Metallic Silver, Nuvo Crystal Drops - Silver Lining, Strathmore Cold Press 140lb Watercolor Paper

Please stop by the Tag, You're It! blog to see how other DT members were inspired.  I hope to see your inspiration in the gallery!

Thanks for coming over to visit.  I hope you have a wonderful day!

Caring Hearts Card Drive Take 2

These Penny Black birds from Winter Wonderland seem to make their way onto my Christmas projects at least once a year.
This year they're stacking up for the Caring Hearts Card Drive!
A simple stitched snow hill embossed with snowflakes grounds the grouping of birds.  Patterned paper backgrounds determine the colors of Copics and card stock.  I produced ten cards of this design to send to the Caring Hearts Card Drive.  Please click on the link to read all about the drive and how you can get involved.
