Welcome to my inaugural post for the
Twofer Card Challenge! We are excited to share our interpretations of the cue word "feathers", and even more excited to see your interpretations!
For my twofer, I chose a tiny bird from MFT's Happy Hippos stamp set. I thought it would be fun to see how I could use this little image for two very different occasions. A masculine birthday card, and a new baby card seemed to be a good stretch for me!
There are three little birds in the set. I used the masking technique
to group the three birds together and did some no-line coloring, hoping
to give them a fluffy texture.
The sentiment was heat embossed on white and then ink blended to create the grass. The chicks are all popped up with foam adhesive. I drew in their little feet onto the grass with a colored pencil.
Next, I needed a 70th birthday card for my uncle. Geometric patterned paper helped give this card a masculine feel. The little bird stole the TH from birthday to make 70 into 70th. I attached the thread to the back of the letters and his beak, then cut out a second beak and glued it over the thread.
The "birthday" was cut from both the gray and aqua paper to create an inlaid look and to emphasize that the TH came from there. Did
you know you can spell "happy" from "birthday"? At least when they are
all capitals like this. I just cut the leg off the R to make the letter
P. The bird, numbers, and banner are popped up with fun foam.
