Toad Afloat

Family summer activities slow down blogging for me, but I wanted to share a card I made using some of the techniques that I learned last month at Jane Allen's class at the MFT store in Eustis, FL!  It was such a treat to see Jane and a couple of the ladies from MFT again.  I had to pinch myself to believe I was getting to fly down there for a second class!  Jane even had some ideas for me about coloring white fluffy animals so they wouldn't look too gray (remember my sheep?).

We didn't color this guy during the class, but I like to transfer what I learn to another image to make sure I remember the concepts.  We learned a lot about texture and, what I really wanted to learn - how to create those eyes!  This little toad is set afloat in the water on a mini wobbler (see video).  I kept the water very simple to keep the focus on the toad.  The shore line is green cs cut with a grassy border die and colored with Copics.  The lily pads are scalloped circle die cuts just trimmed a little, scored, and colored.  The lily is three layers of flowers with a little Copic coloring in the centers to add depth.

Here's the riveting video showing all the action:
Supplies:
Stamps:  MFT Toad-ally Awesome
Dies:  MFT Single Stitched Rectangle Frame, Grassy Hills, Stitched Mini Scallop Circle STAX, Blueprints 13, Spring Garden
Copics:  YG01,03,05,06,11,13,17,23,61,63, G24, W8, C1, B00, RV52,55
Other: Signo white gel pen, McGill Stylus and mat,

Toads are only floating leisurely in the water around Wisconsin in the summer, so this card is going to go play at the following challenges:
Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge:  Summer Fun!     Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge:  Fun in the Sun

Thanks for coming over to visit!  I hope you are having a wonderful day, and I also hope to be around visiting blogs soon!

Twofer Card Challenge #7: Beverage

Since the beginning of the Twofer Card Challenge back in January, the 10th has quickly become one of my favorite days of the month!  It is so fun to announce a new Twofer theme and watch as the ideas start filling the gallery.  This month's theme for the Twofer Card Challenge is beverage and I chose one of my very favorite Simon Says Stamp sets, Lemonade.  It is now retired, *sigh*.
This first card is about as CAS as I can get.  The images were stamped with HA Lemon Yellow die ink.  I hope you can read the sentiment, it is very clear irl.  I used the same Lemon Yellow ink to blend the white heat embossed sentiment panel and the banner behind it.  Here's my tip of the day: start with light yellow card stock rather than white, it made life so much easier for me!  The lemon slices and glass got a heaping helping of WOS.
This card was a fun combination of white heat embossing and Zig Clean Color Brush Pens.  It gave a watercolor look but with enough control to ink in the definition at the bottom of the glass and the top of the liquid.  My favorite part is where two colors meet as the glasses overlap.
Supplies:
Stamps:  SSS Lemonade, MFT Bitty Bears
Dies:  SSS You, Sizzix circle die (for the lemon slices)
Paper:  Bristol Smooth CS for Zig coloring
Ink:  HA Lemon Yellow, VersaMark, Zigs - Orange, Deep Violet, Yellow, Carmine Red, Lemon Yellow, Light Pink, Light Blue, Blue Gray, Cobalt Blue
Other: Wink of Stella, SSS fine detail white embossing powder
We would love to see how you choose to use one stamp or die to make two different designs for two different occasions!  I hope you will be inspired by our design team and our special guests, Bonnie and Marianne over at the Twofer Card Challenge blog.  See you in the gallery!

Thanks for coming over to visit.  I hope you are having a wonderful day!
