Twelve Kits of Ocassions August Guest

Today I am thrilled and honored to be guest designer for the Twelve Kits of Occasions!  My dear friend, Birgit, is one of the twelve talented designers on the team and she invited me to be her guest this month!  I have watched these ladies work their magic for years - each designing cards based on the same supplies.  At the end of every month they showcase their creations and it's so fun to see how each one interprets the kit based on their own styles.  You can see just what I mean by going over to the 12 Kits of Occasions blog!  The supplies in the kit are also listed there.

This month, Birgit put together the kit using the theme Fairy Tales.  She sent out the most darling images, die cut pieces, and papers with lots of room to let our imaginations go wild!  Here are my cards using the kit:

I Copic colored and cut this gnome and his little accessories, colored a background for him, framed it with a MFT scalloped frame onto one of the patterned papers from the kit, and also used an included sentiment.
This "Big" guy was in our kit, along with the cupcake, papers, and sentiment.  I added a Paper Smooches building die cut out of scraps to give perspective to his size.
Birgit included little intricate die cuts - so whimsical!  I colored them all by smooshing them in various Distress Oxide inks and arranged them on a Oxide smooshed background cut from an MFT Stitched rectangle.  The sentiment and blue card base was included in the kit!

This voluptuous fairy was so fun to color!  Everything on this card was included in the kit except that I die cut the MFT Wonky aperture, cut a few LF stars out of the glitter paper, stamped words from HOTP, and added a little glitter glue.
Birgit included sequins in our kit so I knew I wanted to make a shaker card.  The mermaid and her little friend came pre-cut, and I colored them to match those gorgeous papers from the kit!  The turtle was attached with Copic-colored thread to the inside of a PTI shaker window.
This little darling and the mushrooms were also pre-cut.  I colored them to go with this adorable paper, added a MFT scalloped border for the grass, and a MFT frame around the included sentiment.
I wanted to use all those pretty little die cuts and all those beautiful design papers, so I found various stitched rectangles in my stash and die cut a color blocked background.  I cut apart the sentiment that was included in the kit, and added Lawn Fawn little white flowers and hearts to fill in the empty blocks.

I want to thank Birgit for the opportunity to play along with these twelve talented and lovely ladies!  I had a blast!

Thank you for coming over to visit!  I hope you have a wonderful day!

Twofer Card Challenge #8: Geometric

Our Twofer Card Challenge this month is: Geometric.  There are so many ways to use shapes on our cards and I can't wait to see your ideas!  I took the route of a geometric cover plate die by Papertrey Ink called Twist Die.
I thought this geometric pattern would look great for a masculine card so I die cut it out of chip board and then out of patterned paper.  I covered the chipboard piece with the pp piece, glued it on a card base, and then filled in the inside pieces like a puzzle.  If you look closely, you'll notice that not all my pieces landed in the right place - Shh, don't tell Dad!  The top layer was lightly ink blended with Brushed Corduroy DI.  The sentiment panel was kept simple to keep the background as the focus.
On this feminine encouragement card, I used the cover plate in a subtle way without cutting through the paper to give the idea of a trellis in the background.  The sentiment was white heat embossed and smooshed with Oxide inks.  The leaves and flowers were also colored with Oxides.  I pretty much just made puddles of ink and water on a craft sheet and dipped them in a couple of times.  Little dots of white gel pen completed the flowers.
Supplies:
Stamps:  PTI Tucked In: Father's Day, PTI New Every Morning
Dies:  PTI Cover Plate: Twist Die, Altenew Spring Shower Cover Die, Lawn Fawn Cole's Letters
Paper:  7 Gypsies Travel 8x8 paper pad, Georgia Pacific white cs, chip board from packaging, blue and brown scraps
Ink:  VersaMark, Distress Brushed Corduroy, Distress Oxides Picked Raspberry, Worn Lipstick, Wild Honey, Twisted Citron, Peeled Paint
Other:  Signo white gel pen, twine, fun foam, SSS fine detail white embossing powder, Ranger Princess Gold embossing powder
Thankfully, you don't need to crack open a geometry book for this one.  Just get those shapes out and choose one to use for two different designs for two different occasions!  There is so much inspiration over at the Twofer Card Challenge blog from the design team and our special guests, Cheryl (Paper Panacea), and Brenda (Inkspired to Stamp).  I hope enjoy!

Thanks for coming over to visit.  I hope you are having a wonderful day!
