TYI! #24 and MIM #215

As I mentioned on my last post, I'm in the middle of preparing my mom to move out of her house and into a senior apartment.  I snatched a little time away from sorting and packing to play along with a couple of challenges this week.  Danielle demonstrated how to bring the inside of the card onto the outside for the Make It Monday Challenge, and Anja gave great inspiration with her card for Tag, You're It!  I was inspired by Anja's use of color, stencils, and star accents.  I had to cut down four layers to bring the inside out, but what fun!

Here's the card lying flat:

Here's the inside of the card:

Here's the card standing upright:

Stencil: Tim Holtz Dot Fade
Inks: PTI Tropical Teal, Brilliance Starlite Black
Paper: PTI Terracotta Tile, Aqua Mist, MME Miss Caroline
Stamps: PTI Baker's Dozen August Cupcake and "Birthday"
Dies: PTI Baker's Dozen, Scene It: Skyscapes (stars), One Liners: Happy
Paint:  Distress Paint Mowed Lawn mixed with Broken China, Adirondack Snow Cap
Copics
Cardbase, leather twine, wire, and foam all Hobby Lobby brand

I hope you have time to play this week too!

Thanks, Dad!

It's Father's Day this Sunday!  I saw this saying on in a magazine, thought it was clever and decided to use it:

The "thanks" is from PS Smarty Pants heat embossed in white.  "Dad" and "Awesome" were cut from PTI cs on the Silhouette with the banner sentiment printed off the computer.  The plaid paper is my new favorite and a gift from Scotland called, A4 Tartan Craft Papers by Southfield.  There are 12 tartan patterns in the pad and I was given two of them - squeee!  I die cut the paper with PTI Scene It: Basic Backer Die, and added a white circle behind it.  The light gray paper and white paper are from my stash and the card base is Paper Studios.

Happy Father's Day, everyone, I miss my dad terribly, but I am so grateful for the time we had together.  Right now, moving my mom to a senior apartment, we are going through his things (six years after he passed away).  It brings back a flood of memories!

Petite Places Thank You, Teacher

First off, I have to appologize for not being around much these last few weeks.  My mom has been on a waiting list for a senior living apartment and we thought we had about a year to wait.  The call came last week that an apartment opened up on July 1st!  That means preparing her house to sell and sorting through a lifetime full of memories filling up her basement.  In a way, I'm glad for the short deadline so it won't drag on, but what a whirlwind!

I've been wanting to make one of the PTI Petite Places domes for quite a while now.  I thought it would make a fun teacher gift:

I used PTI's Petite Places school stamps and dies, and Scene It dies.  Papers and Inks are all PTI.  The half pint Ball jar is filled with M&Ms and tied with a ribbon from Hobby Lobby.  The dome is also from Hobby Lobby, it's half of a fillable ornament.  I put a gift card in an envelope made using the We R Memory Keepers Envelope Punch Board.  The paper was from the 6x6 paper pad, Scoot, by Echo Park.

Thanks for coming over to visit!  I hope to be around to comment on your wonderful projects soon!  Have a great day!

Thank You, Teachers!

It's offically summer at our house!  The girls had their last day of school last Friday and we celebrated by going camping in Door County for the weekend.  I made a couple of teacher gifts, and today's tag is one of them, inspired by the very talented and incredibly sweet Tracey over at the Tag, You're It! challenge blog. Her teacher thank you tags and gifts are wonderful! I took inspiration from her tags' theme, color, and shape, as well as the red and white striped twine on the packages.

I used PTI's Petite Places School stamps and dies, and PTI's Scene It dies.  Ink and papers on the scene are PTI.  The sentiment is from SSS's Tilted Banner Sayings.  The tag and tag top is a gift from Michele of Crimson Owl Creations - Thank you, Michele!  I cut a fish tail at the bottom of the tag, and added ribbon from Hobby Lobby.

This tag is going over to play in the Tag, You're It Challenge #23.  Here is the project that Tracey made:
EDITED:  I can't believe I missed it, but City Crafters Challenge Blog Week #265 is all about tags!  I am linking this tag up there too.  Thanks, Ros, for the heads up!  Here's their inspiration photo:

Father's Day and CCCB Guest Designer

Today I am thrilled to be guest designing at the City Crafter Challenge Blog!  This week's challenge is to use banners.  I loved the inspiration photo, so soft and beautiful!  I decided to move my banners in a different direction, however, in order to prepare for Father's Day.  My father is the true inspiration behind this card, he really was the best dad ever!  I am thankful to say that my husband holds the same title for our girls:

The card base is from Paper Studio, the wood grain is from MME Miss Caroline, and the aqua is from a paper pad from Momenta called Cardstock.  I cut the "DAD", banners, and tools on the Silhouette.  The tools were a Silhouette cut file called Tool Set.  The tool handles were cut from red cs, and the tools were cut from white paper and then colored with a silver Sharpie marker.  I punched a tiny hole in some of the tools in order to string them.  The word, "best" from "best wishes", a stamp from the PTI stamp set Mega Mixed Messages, was heat embossed onto a red scrap of cs cut into a banner.  The word, "DAD" is popped up with foam tape, and so are the ends for the banners.

You should see the gorgeous and amazing projects that the design team created over at City Crafters Challenge Blog!  Please join us this week with your banner creations, and thank you so much for visiting my blog today!
Have a wonderful day!
