Twelve Kits of Occasions - April

Welcome to the last day of April!  I have the pleasure of hosting over at the 12 Kits of Occasions this month with the theme, "For the Graduate".  Graduation day is a momentous occasion, whether it's from kindergarten, high school, college, or beyond.  It's always an achievement worth celebrating!  My hope was to help us stock up on a few graduation cards to have ready for the upcoming season, and I also made a few specific ones I know I'll need later.

For me, rainbows symbolize bright hope of the future:
Our high school colors are red and white, so this one was colored specifically for our daughter who will be graduating next year, *sniff*:
A couple of my cards could be used for promotions and other transitions rather than graduation:
This ecstatic lady is on a string to make it a spinner card.  The image has both a front and back so she can twirl around in her office chair:

I made the tassel using some floss:

I water colored this next card with Distress Inks and turned it into a shaker card:

I hope you will join me over at the 12 Kits of Occasions blog to see the amazing and creative ways each member of the team interpreted this kit!

All of the supplies included in the kit are listed over at the 12 Kits of Occasions blog.
Extra supplies that I used on my card include:
Dies:  MFT Single Stitched Rectangle Frame, MFT Stitched Scalloped Rectangle Frame
Distress Inks:  Mowed Lawn, Wilted Violet, Mermaid Lagoon, Candied Apple, Ripe Persimmon, Picked Raspberry, Black Soot, Mustard Seed
Copic Markers

Thanks for coming over to visit!  I hope you have a wonderful day!
Kara

  1. First off I have to tell you that I just LOVED your kit! I was so tired of making orange and black grad cards and your kit truly was a breath of fresh air!! I just loved all the colors and all the wonderful images you included, and I'm actually excited to send out some grad cards this year, so thank you, thank you! My favorite paper in the kit was the thick rainbow stripes, and I just love how you used it with the silhouettes on your 1st and 2nd to last cards! Also loved your card for your daughter for next year...so sweet! (and doesn't the time just fly by?!!) LOVE your spinner card too...she was just too much fun to color up and make into a card! Your transition cards are wonderful too and you gave me a great ide for a card for Addy for pre-school graduation! Wonderful, wonderful cards and kit Kara...thank you so much my friend!! :0)

  3. Kara these cards are spectacular! you graduate at the top of your class friend!! giggles

I am curious how you colored your daughter's graduation card... it looks like your image is directly on top of gold polka dots?? How is it the gold dots do not shine through? or is your image possibly paper pieced?

Too sweet! each and every one!!

  4. This was such a wonderfully fun kit Kara! I just love the coloring on your Grace the Grad card and the design you created with the circle "congrats"s. Perfection in every way! The two cards with the wide rainbow paper are so fabulous and look like a celebration in themselves. I adore the little pup in the balloon! I'm so glad I still have mine so I can do a little CAS-ing. Your spinner card is just too delightful and fun! All your cards are a wonderful way to celebrate such a momentous occasion. Thanks so much for a fun-tastic kit!

Your coloring never seizes to wow me and Grace looks just stunning--perfect job with her robe! Even the little pup in the balloon comes alive with your shading. Love the layout on the smart cookie card. Your little cookie just pops! Coloring the die cut on your last card was another great idea, especially with all that fun confetti inside. Thanks again for a wonderful kit and sharing your fabulous inspiration!!!

  14. I seriously need to charge you for my jaw dislocation, Samantha! If I had to "graduate" your amazing array of designs from most favorite to least favorite, they would all be piled up in a heap under the Most Favorite sign!! You've raised the bar high for this kit and I appreciate it so much because graduation cards are the one occasion where I am usually stuck on a boring graduation cap and diploma! You've increased my range a million fold! Thank you!! Hugs, Darnell

  17. Gosh, I've been scrolling up and down admiring each one of your delicious cards, Kara ... every one is fabulous! Choosing a favourite was tough as it changed so much as I scrolled ... though I kept going back to the second one. She's so much fun ... and the gold adds a wonderful touch of style ... I think the love you put into it for such a special recipient is shining through it! Big hugs and bisous, Anita :)
