Each year, as the days grew shorter and colder, I told my kids that it was time for me to hibernate. It was sort of a game where they would come up with all the reasons I shouldn't, and I would reply, "okay, I'll wait until after ____ (whatever they mentioned)." By the time we finished, they had me staying up all the way to spring, and then it wasn't worth hibernating. I wrote it into a children's story that I hope one day gets published - okay, I can dream.
Lawn Fawn's Den Sweet Den is a new stamp set filled with images to create quite a cozy home. I used the new Stitched Dens to create a cave for this sleeping mamma and baby bear.
Their neighbor squirrel is also cozy in her own den in the nearby tree created from the new Lift the Flap Tree Backdrop.
The bears, squirrel, and the inside of their dens were colored with Kuretaki Gansai Tambi watercolors and the den and tree were ink blended with Distress Ink.
This scene makes me want to cozy up under my covers, how about you? Before you do, head on over to Lawn Fawn's blog to be inspired by all of the wonderful cards from the design team!

This is adorable and makes me want a warm blanket to curl up with. The tree is so cute with it's little den too. You should definitely write a book, Kara. Your stories about your cards and how you came up with them are priceless. I always love the stories as much as the cards. You can do that this winter while you hibernate. I can't wait to read it.
ReplyDeleteOh so very cute!!
ReplyDeleteRemember how I've said that you should be illustrating children's books because of your mad coloring skills? And now I find out you've written a book??!! Illustrate it and get it out there girl! I'll buy the first copy!! And this card just couldn't be any cuter or sweeter my friend! Beautifully designed and colored as always!! Sounds like it's going to be a bit of snuggling weather this next week so that's how I'm going to be picturing you Kara...hibernating!! Miss you!! Hugs. :0)

ReplyDeleteI am so glad we are heading into Summer (not that Winter here is cold really)... but I do need to do something about the Winter/Covid kilos (you may say pounds lol) before I go to the beach. ps Loving that peekaboo hole!
ReplyDeleteKara, I love that story, and know that millions of kids would love it, too ... get on that! Amazon publishing, perhaps?

I'm right there with ya, I don't like the cold(I live in Indiana, USA) & when it starts turning cold in the late fall, I'm the one who always says I'm ready to just hibernate until Spring. Your card is very cute!!!
ReplyDeleteNot only is your card so sweet—I think your children’s book idea is wonderful!!
ReplyDeleteSo cosy and sweet, Kara ... an adorable little scene with that cute squirrel hidden behind her tree flap! I'm so with you on hibernating ... I was born to live in the warmth! Looking forward to seeing your magical, fun story in print one of these days ... illustrated by you, of course! Big hugs and bisous, Anita :)
