Twofer Card Challenge #3: Blossoms

Welcome back to another fun Twofer Card Challenge!  This time around the cue word is Blossoms.  There are many gorgeous flowers out there, so I hope you will join in on the fun by making two completely different cards for two completely different occasions, with the same stamp/die.

I used a versatile and fun stamp set from PTI called Doodlie-do:
In order to come up with two very different designs, I went with lots of flowers white heat embossed on colored cs for the first card, and changed it up with a bright water coloried focal point and clean lines/white space on my second card.

The card below is a Valentine card.  The flower was stamped on both white and watercolored paper twice and fussy cut to create a layered flower.  The die cut sentiment was cut from both black and the pink layer, with a tiny strip of black between the pink and doodled bottom border.  Do you see the tiny stamped sentiment within my doodled lines?  At first I tried to write the word in with the lines, but it looked much better stamped.
This second card was fun to create, thanks to my friend, Birgit of Crafting While I Wait, because she gave me the matching dies!  A while ago, I blogged about a card with these stamps and said I fussy cut them out.  Birgit emailed me saying that she had an extra set and would send it to me!  Thank you, once again, Birgit, so thoughtful, and what a life saver on this card!
I hope you will join us for this fun and creative challenge!  Please check out all the details and amazing inspiration over at the Twofer Card Challenge Blog

  1. One of my favourite PTI sets, Kara ... so beautifully showcased! A gorgeous cascade of white embossed blooms ... the bold colours contrast wonderfully with the softly stencilled background! Love the clean, crisp look of that deliciously watercoloured and layered single blossom ... so striking with the bold pink and white base ... the placement of that secondary sentiment along the striped border is brilliant! Have a happy weekend! Hugs, Anita :)

  2. Oh wow, these are gorgeous! Absolutely love how you die cut and inlaid the sentiment on your Valentine's card, how the doodled border matches the stripes on the blossom, and how the flower looks tie dyed! I can imagine how having the matching dies made the the second card with so many flowers and leaves easier! The stenciled background and the white embossing on different colored card stock looks so pretty!

  5. How in heaven's name did I miss a set from PTI called Doodlie-do! That has my name written all over it, lol! PTI should pay you for making these two sensational designs with it, Kara! The coloring and detail of the first card with the thin black sediment line, bright white and fuchsia colors and that almost hidden word border: genius! Your second card just pops all over the place with fun and color and dimension! Egads, I love everything about it! What a generous gift from sweet Birgit which you dazzled!! Hugs, Darnell

  8. Your CAS Valentine's card is so pretty with the split panels and inlaid design. Your flower is beautiful with matching colours. Glad you mentioned about the "VALENTINE" ... I didn't notice it at first. :)

Your layered flower card is gorgeous. Those flowers are so beautiful and I love the way you've layered them to create flower sprays with lots of dimension. The colours are wonderful together and look amazing over the stenciled background. Aren't crafting friends the best?? So sweet of Birgit to send you the matching dies!

Two fantastic cards Kara using the PTI stamp set. Great work!! xx

  9. Love the way you've done the Valentine card with the shape of it, and that wonderfully colored flower. How cool that you were able to use just the single flower to make such a statement, and your doodle border is wonderful. That was a stunning detail I think. Also loved the massed flowers used as a bold corner design - and the subtle stenciling on the background. (I think I have this stamp set, but it's a NBUS...These cards make me want to hunt it out!) Your Valentine card is SO perfect...I love every detail including the little striped strip with the "Valentine" sentiment in it...I didn't notice it at first until you mentioned it, and now of course it "pops" out to me! Your 2nd card is just lovely and uses my favorite color combination of purples and greens...totally LOVE it!! Well done my friend!! :0)

  15. Two amazing cards here Kara! I just adore the cluster of flowers on the first card. They look so good embossed in white on the colored card stock. The second card is equally amazing! I like how you stamped the sentiment down below in your doodled lines. What a great look! I am so thrilled that we had the opportunity to meet and craft together last week. I am still smiling whenever I think about it. Already thinking about the next gathering of friends. (HUGS) to you my friend!
