SugarPea Designs August Mix it Up Challenge

It's time for a new challenge over at SugarPea Designs!  Our neighbor makes the most amazing rhubarb pie.  When our daughter graduated high school in June, she brought over a tin of that warm, bubbly goodness!  So I decided to make her a rhubarb pie - a paper one:

I was inspired by this month's sketch and colors.  I die cut a white heart from the Postage Stamp SugarCut set, adhered it to a white panel, and ink blended with Fired Brick Distress Ink over both of the them.

I dotted Copic markers throughout the center of the pie to create the filling, and then covered it with Glossy Accents.  The crust and whipped cream dollops were also shaded with Copic markers.

I hope you will join us this month for SugarPea Designs' Mix It Up Challenge!  Take a look at the inspiration below and see what inspires you:

  1. What a beautiful card! I love the heart... it's so clever and the pie is so perfectly done!

  2. Oh yum, yum. How sweet of your neighbor to bring overa pie and she will love this thank you card. Congratulations to your graduate!

  3. What a fabulous job on the chimney backdrop with the heart and your delicious looking thank you pie, Kara!! I know I've not visited each post, but now I'm wondering ... do I only come by when I smell food? I think I need a support group!! Take care! Miss you! Hugs, Darnell

  4. It smells heavenly from where I'm sitting too Kara....yummmmmm!! Loving all the sweet details you included in this thank you too, from the red & green of the rhubarb in the pie and the perfectly browned crust, the heart amongst the brick background, and even the perfect whipped cream dollops!! Your sweet neighbor is going to LOVE this!! Hugs my friend!! :0)

  5. What a yummy pie, Kara! Love the heart and brick background, too! Your neighbor will love this card! How sweet of her to bring a pie over to celebrate your daughter’s graduation!

  6. That brick background reminds me of my late mother-in-law's kitchen. My late father-in-law was a bricklayer and she had the prettiest arched opening with her stove set in it and two ovens on the wall of brick! Your pretty card makes me think of her. Thanks for the sweet memories!

  7. Hi Kara! That brick background looks amazing with the pie. I love the close up with the heart! Amazing inking!

  8. What a sweet neighbour, Kara ... and a scrummy looking pie against the stencilled brick background ... love how you camouflaged the stitched heart ... great detail! Big hugs and bisous, Anita :)
